Bass and drums are the most impotent piece of the band, sure you can have amazing guitarist, but if the drummer and bassist cant keep in time. It ruins the entire song and your going ... WTF.

Plus what you mean you can't hear the bass? Just listen you can hear them clearly. Then again I'm a bassist and Drummer, plus I don't care about lyrics, I'm all about the music lyrics I find pretty useless :P

Since their screaming, yeah me too. Thats why I love japanese music; the beat is kool and the giggling anime girls are adorable

But yeah I cant hear it. I mean i dont hear the bass instrument. Plus some bands dont even have a bass, they replace him with a rhythm guitarist which sounds better.

I love Metal, only music to me I got into. And I was introduce to every genre basically, plus its not scream, takes a lot of training to to do it properly they're a lot of people out there that try to mimic there scream/growls/grunts etc only to fuck up their vocal cords unable to speak for a good 5 days or so. Plus I disagree with the rhythm guitar sounding better, I know guitar but I never liked the sound of the guitar, Bass sounds much better especially when you get a bassist who's amazing you can do a lot with a bass, just that most bands don't take the bass to its full potential. Plus I never seen a band without a bassist, I see bands with two bassist that sound better then bands with Lead/Rhythm guitar's together

Ive never seen a band without a bass either but I think theres a few bands that dont. I just prefer guitar over bass any day. A bassist in a rock band is always welcomed though. I always joke around with friends that the bassist is the useless member in a band...which is why girls are always the bassists.....god Im dark....

Well like, take this riff for example.

It something random I recorded the other day, it was all sort of an improv thing but if i was to have a bass with it, it would sound a lot better. Im using this as an example because its already low, but im saying it can sound a lot better with a little help from a bass.

I say its already good, just add some drums and your golden. Just yesterday when I was listening to some music I was trying to listen for the bass. I actually did hear it but everything else was on top of it. It sounds good nevertheless.

Well the band I'm in now, we're in hiatus until we figure out our band line up, since we can get a new guitarist then I would have to move to Bass and Vocals since they like my Vocals more then the one we have now. Its just mass of mess right now ... blah xD

OmarAguana wrote:The thing about an orchestra, it requires every instrument to play in a certain time or all together. I could hear every sound clearly since it compliments each other perfectly. Now a bassist in a METAL band.....the screaming vocals, double-pedaling drums, and sick guitar riffs overpower the poor bassist and its deep notes. A bassist in a rock band, that different. Im only saying why wear a kitten mask when everyone is wearing a lion, tiger, and cougar masks?

Well, it's not necessarily the metal you described, here are a few examples of metal I like.

I believe this is classified as metal. I'm probably wrong, since I am teh suck at classifying music.
